Oh! {handmade} Christmas Tree!

...so this is Christmas...

Every year i make a different christmas tree! You know... i get bored very easily!

The last 3 years i make christmas trees out of cardboard! Recycling is my favourite game!!!

This time i decided to recycle a different material.....a plant!!! There is one little guy on my balcony, that could't make it through this crazy weather! So i decided to honor my poor jasmin tree and make a christmas tree, out of it!

 

I collected the thicker branches and painted them white. Then i tied all the ends together and wrapped them around with a rainbow yarn. I attached them on an empty liquer bottle, which was also painted in white spray paint and continued wrapping...and wrapping... 

Then i thought that wrapping wasn't enough so i did a little bit more on the branches!

Used the same yarn to make some pon pons, some tiny christmas lights and

...ta taaaaa!!!!!  Brand new Christmas Tree!!!

 

I placed two little fabric christmas trees (which i made last year), a huge acorn and my MOST favourite christmas guy next to it, to keep some company...

 

 Then i thought they might want to do something together while we are sleeping...

so i gave them a music carousel with playful toy horses, some books to read, my favourite wooden top and this amazing Wonderland Deer from ILaBoom!

 I love the way they all look together!!!

"γεια στα χέρια μας IV"

Το "γεια στα χέρια μας ΙV" πάει ένα βήμα parapera!

Για μια ολόκληρη εβδομάδα, το "γεια στα χέρια μας", θα γεμίσει τον 1ο όροφο του parapera με χρώματα, σχήματα, υφές, φόρμες, τρελιάρικες ιδέες, ταλέντο και πολλή θετική ενέργεια!!!

Σε πείσμα των καιρών, εμείς επιμένουμε να δημιουργούμε και να αντιστεκόμαστε στο φόβο, την απογοήτευση, την έλλειψη οράματος και την παραίτηση....
Μοιραζόμαστε την αγάπη μας για το χειροποίητο, στηρίζοντας παράλληλα την παράδοση, την ανακύκλωση και την έκφραση! Λειτουργούμε χωρίς μεσάζοντες και ανεξάρτητα από ισοπεδωτικές «τάσεις της μόδας».

Δημιουργήσαμε αυτό χαρούμενο craft party – Bazaar, γεμάτο καλούδια από τα χεράκια μας, που περιμένουν να γίνουν δικά σας! Σας περιμένουμε για να γνωριστούμε, να ανταλλάξουμε ιδέες, να μάθουμε έξυπνες τεχνικές και να δημιουργήσουμε μαζί στα μίνι σεμινάρια που έχουμε ετοιμάσει!

Στην έκθεσή μας θα βρείτε:
Χριστουγεννιάτικα δώρα – κόσμημα - αξεσουάρ – ένδυμα – χρηστικά και διακοσμητικά αντικείμενα – παιχνίδια – πλεκτά - υφαντά – χάρτινες κατασκευές – ανακύκλωση

Σας περιμενουν πολλά δώρα και εκπλήξεις!

7 little secret things about me

1. i love to touch bas relief surfaces and imaginary draw over them, with my fingers following the pattern!
2. when i was a child i always walked stooping, because i wanted to make sure that i didn't step on any ants! I believed that up in the sky lived the giants and from up there we looked like ants to them!
3. I love the sound of ice-cubes in a glass and the sound of heels on the pavement!
4. When washing the dishes, i place them on the drier by size and cutlery by type
   (of course knives always go with the sharp edge downwards!!)
5. I sing loudly all day long!
6. When something makes me sad or angry, i grab it off my chest and throw it to the sea!
7. i love to jump on sewer lids and make noise!

Trash finds - Mirror revamp!

As my blog's name says...

i love finding things that are useless to people and throw them away,

and transform them to something useful. This time my trash treasure is a mirror!

It has a golden frame and a few drippings of white paint.

My first thought was to paint its frame. Then i realised that the frame was made of metal and i decided to make something different! Spice it up a little by using fabric instead!

If you like the result, just follow the steps below.

Take it apart.

It will be used for my jewelry exhibitions, so i chose a fabric in black and red

(which will match my shop's colors and the rest of my exhibitional items).

You can choose any fabric you like but remember that by using a thick one, you might end up with ugly folded corners.

Put the empty frame on the fabric and mark its shape, measuring about 2-3cm away of each side (depending on your frame's thickness).

After cutting out the shape, snip the inside corners to help the fabric turn over the frame.

Apply a thin layer of white glue and turn each side of the fabric over,

remembering to stretch it each time.

Repeat the same process for the front side.

Then cut the corners diagonally in order to make neat corner folds.

Then glue the excess fabric on the back, covering the whole frame.

Put the mirror inside the frame, secure the back and...

it is READY!!!

If you need to attach any small parts (such as nail hangers)

just make tiny snips on the fabric and push them through.

Sudden rain...

3...2..1..GO!!!

..suddenly thousands of freshly squeezed raindrops started to run to the finish line!

The ground! What a race!!

Some of them took the short way by sliding over "the umbrella waterslides park".

(some serious passion was hiding under the park!)

La bambola - You little doll!

My secret project is about making imaginary people with fantastic personalities, come to life ...in the shape of dolls! It's still in progress but i wanted to share SO BADLY!!!

I really like to observe people while i spend my time traveling by bus, subway train or even when im walking on the street. When my eye is caught by somebody not as ordinary as the rest of the mass, my imagination is streching and rubbing hands before starting to work. Then suddenly i see letters forming lines and lines forming little storries on my imaginary notebook! I try to imagine where these people are going, what their house would look like, what their hobbies would be...and so on...

For a long time i wanted to make a book out of these everyday stories. But since im always busy with something, it has never happened (so far). So i thought maybe i should try to give form to some of those and see where this story will take me...

This is my first attempt... she doesn't have a name...because she hasn't got a face yet.. 
For now i will call her :  the Red hair doll

and here she is with the rest of the family, waiting patiently to receive a past...

La Valise Rouge * part III

 

Τhe tribute to red suitcases is closing the curtains with an amazing animation film:

As seen on "August vacation"

I am back from a wondrous 3 week trip!

I have seen some pretty amazing things during my trip that i couldn't wait to share!

 

The great august full moon was waiting for my departure, to keep me company on the deck! 

I've met a few amazing little creatures on the way... like these hugging two.

My dog was also a big star!!! He loves backgammon especially when he sleeps in it.. and nobody can play that noisy game!

I made a very serious friend, Mr Seagull. He never smiled!

A bit further i meet two ducks. They were the best swimmers in the lake!

Arriving back to the sea water was a big surprize!!!

My feet had the warmest welcome by a flock of tiny party fish!

Then i got thursty... but luckily a found some lions working as waiters....and they were surving water! 

 

I saw some little stones, climbing on bigger stones... i think somebody was trying to make a beach stonehenge!

 

Then i saw a big rock lying on tiny ones... mabe she got the game wrong...

And somewhere before i get tired, i met a huge rock, that was coolen his feet in water tunnels!

I thought that was a nice place to rest and ask the wise big rock, to feed my hunger of querries.

My "official"

 summer vacation is over.... Well it was a wonderful and relaxing time..now back to reallity...there's a burning hot winter straight ahead!

La Valise Rouge * part II

Once upon a time...

there was a  very sad, brown suitcase. She was very old and dirty and nobody wanted her anymore!

She was left next to the trash bin, all alone!

Luckily, Mrs L was passing by after a while. She saw the poor suitcase standing there, terrified that the garbage truck with the huge teeth would come soon.. 

Mrs L thought "this one can become a masterpiece!"and took her home. She washed, repaired, painted the suitcase red and she also drew black dots everywhere!

She knew it was a girl-suitcase and she named her Sweet Case!

Mrs L thought it was the most beautiful sweetcase in the whole world! 

Sweet Case sat on the couch with Mrs L and smiled at her! She whispered: "you are my friend now! you took good care of me" and smiled again with her new red handle.

Time passed and Sweet Case thought that she wasn't just a livingroom suitcase! She was meant to travel! She thanked Mrs L , and said that she had to move on, and become what she was supposed to be!

She packed herself and closed the door behind her! She was ready for a big adventure! Took a deep breath and moved on!

She was waiting outside the elevator door when a thought crossed her mind: "you learn more using the hard way".

So she turned around and started climbing down the stairs...

 Nobody had seen her for a long time! She sent a postcard once saying that she was travelling around the world and that she had so much more to see!!

A few months  after, Mrs L heard a continuous banging noise coming from the stairs! She opened the door and saw Sweet Case climbing up the stairs breathless!

She didn't even say hello! She went inside the house, took her place on the couch, took a few more breaths, then looked Mrs L in the eyes an said:

"I've travelled around the world , i've seen so many things... but i am empty without a friend!"
